Dad of the Year 2011- Carey Ferguson
I would like to nominate Carey Ferguson for Better Made's Dad of the Year contest.
Not only is Carey the biggest and greatest Better Made Fan and supporter, (he refuses to buy anything else) but he is also the world's greatest dad. He is the father to a 4 year old girl, Teagan and also the step-father to a 15 year old boy, Bryant, who he treats just like he was his own. He's the perfect combination of disciplinarian and friend. He's great buddies with my son, even though they have NOTHING in common. Teagan is daddy's little girl. He would do anything for anybody if it is within his powers. He's a great friend to everyone he meets. He's got that type of personality that makes everyone just love him.
He's very dependable, if he says he is going to do something for you, he does it. He's always doing special little things for us. Whether it is buying a video game for Bryant or picking me up a purse just because he loves me or buying stickers for Teagan's sticker book, he is always thinking about his family. He takes on so much around the house as well. He does all the yard work, the laundry, dishes, bills, and so much more. Sometimes I think we all take him for granted, which is why I think he deserves this prize.
He would think he is the luckiest man alive, not only knowing his family loves him, but that it would be a Better Made prize. He would proudly display and talk about it for years to come. He even has his Better Made T-shirt he wears constantly. He told me for Father's day he wants a gift basket of Better Made stuff or a gift card for The Detroit Shoppe so he can buy his own Better Made products. So this prize would be perfect. I hope you please consider him for it. I may not be the best writer of all time, but he does certainly deserve this.

I would like to nominate my Dad, John Urquhart, as Father of the Year. He is the most thoughtful and loving man you will ever meet. He truly means and lives "Family First" in everything he does. No matter what the family needs he is there for every one of us. It doesn't matter, we never have to ask for help. He offers his support in any way he can. You know he loves and respects all five of his children and our families and is very proud of us all.
Jack and my Mom, Theresa, have been together for over 60 years and have always lived in the Detroit area. He is a WWII vet, a retiree of Chrysler, a volunteer in the community and still works to this day. You can ask all who know him, my Dad has BETTER MADE all the lives he has touched.

I would like to nominate my father Albert Lenz Sr. for father of the year. I am 33 years old and my dad is the nicest, most amazing person I have ever met in my entire life.
He is 62 and still works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. He has worked so hard his whole life to provide us the best life possible. He worked overtime so my mom didn't have to work while my brothers and I were growing up.
He does so much for everyone. If I called and said we were low on milk, he would run to the store, get me milk and bring it to my house. He has helped my brother and his family with groceries and house items, he has helped my husband and I with house repairs when we got our new home. He has helped my younger brother while he was looking for a job. He still helps us with stuff around the house all the time.
He paid for my college education and never asked for a penny. I played basketball from 4th grade to 12th grade and my dad video taped every single game. While some parents didn't even come watch their kids play, mine was in the audience every time filming. Now I have such great memories to show my kids someday.
When we would go on family vacations, if there wasn't enough room for everyone, he would sleep on the floor.
He would give the shirt off his back to anyone. I am a better person having him in my life.
Thank you!

I am writing to enter my husband Darin Nunn into your 2012 Better Made Father's Day Contest. …
My husband's name is Darin, I'm Melissa…his wife of nearly 17 years. In 1994 we met while working a high school job when we were 16 and from that moment on we have been together… five children (ages 13 down to age 7), three biological & two adopted over these years. Darin has always been a great father to our children…and honestly one of the most kind hearted, gentle & loving husbands/best friend anyone can ask for.
Recently (over the last 8 months) our lives have been bombarded with health crisis after health crisis…and I am quite ill and unable to care for my self completely so I am very dependent on Darin's help daily. Two of our kids have had some health concerns this year as well… as well as Darin underwent surgery himself right in the middle of my most serious need of his help… and he never stopped caring & taking care of us even in his own recovery. I foresee a very lengthy life ahead of him having to care give for me and although it crushes me to put him through this… Darin has not once blinked an eye or complained about this happening… He is true support all around.
Back in 2004 Darin was asked to take co-guardianship with me over my young sisters due to my mother's illness…and he did it without a second thought… my sisters see him 100% as their father figure and he is very active in their lives too… so technically you can say he has 7 kids, if you include my sisters into the equation. Then in 2005 he gave up his dream home (mine too) to move us nearly next door to my mother (who is very chronically ill) so she could be cared for better as well as her children (my sisters that we had guardianship of) be able to live and stay with her while under our overseeing their care.
Darin is a hardworking father & husband.… working, caring for his children (including helping homeschool them), caring for me, caring for my family…and just a truly awesome person.
It has been an always unexpected…sometimes rough ride… and defiantly not an easy road for Darin through these 17 years… He is my hero… and this contest cant even start to acknowledge just how I and my kids feel towards him… Darin is something special and we love him so much. He deserves the moon and more. Happy Father's Day…and many many more.
Please consider him for your Better Made Father's Day Contest this year!

I would like to nominate Steven Eales for father of the year. He's a really swell guy and doesn't even drink beer.
He works really long hours every single day for Habitat for Humanity in the East Bay. His work ranges from painting, cleaning, roofing, and framing.
Even mid-storm he claims that "It's not even raining"
